Dream - The Investigator Team of the Deputy Attorney General's Office for Special Crimes (JAM PIDSUS) at the Attorney General's Office has designated a new suspect related to allegations of corruption in the tin commodity trade within the Mining Business License (IUP) of PT Timah Tbk for the years 2015-2022. The suspect is Helena Lim, also known as the crazy rich from Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK). The investigative team immediately detained Helena after questioning on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

"The Investigator Team has elevated the status of one witness to a Suspect, namely HLN as the Manager of PT QSE," said Ketut Sumedana, Head of the Legal Information Center of the Attorney General's Office (Kapuspenkum), quoted from his written statement, Wednesday, March 27, 2024."

Immediately Detained

The suspect HLN will be detained at the Salemba Branch of the Attorney General's Office Detention Center for the next 20 days, starting from March 26th until April 14th, 2024.

"Taking Advantage for Oneself"

In 2018 to 2019, Helena Lim, as the manager of PT QSE, is strongly suspected of assisting in managing the results of criminal acts of leasing tin smelting processing equipment in the IUP area of PT Timah Tbk. She provided facilities and amenities to the smelter owners under the pretext of receiving or distributing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. However, in reality, she benefited herself and the suspects who had been previously detained.

For his actions, he is charged under Article 2 Paragraph (1) and Article 3 jo. Article 18 of the Indonesian Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 jo. Indonesian Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Amendments to Indonesian Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes jo. Article 56 of the Indonesian Criminal Code.

The corruption allegations began in 2018, with the suspect ALW as the Director of Operations of PT Timah Tbk for the period of 2017-2018, along with the suspect MRPT as the CEO of PT Timah Tbk, and the suspect EE as the CFO of PT Timah Tbk, realizing that the tin ore supply produced was lower compared to other private smelter companies. This was due to the rampant illegal mining conducted within the IUP area of PT Timah Tbk.

Situation

The condition made the suspect ALW, along with the suspects MRPT and EE, who were supposed to take action against the competitor, instead offer the smelter owner to collaborate. The collaboration was done by purchasing illegal mining results exceeding the standard price set by PT Timah Tbk without prior assessment.

To facilitate the action of accommodating the illegal mining, suspect ALW along with suspects MRPT and EE agreed to make an agreement as if there was a rental cooperation of tin processing smelting equipment with the smelters.

"Until now, the Investigator Team has examined 142 witnesses in this alleged corruption case. The change in HLN's status as a suspect has increased the total number to 15 suspects in this case. Here is the list of 15 suspects in the case of PT Timah Tbk:"
