Firli Bahuri held the meeting to secure SYL from the corruption case currently being handled by the KPK. "Stating that Brother Firli Bahuri has been officially and convincingly proven to have violated the code of ethics by directly or indirectly engaging with Syahrul Yasin Limpo, whose case is being handled by the KPK, and not informing fellow leaders, which is suspected to create a conflict of interest and not demonstrating exemplary behavior in daily life," said Chairman of the Ethics Council, Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, in his verdict on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

Haris said, the communication started when Firli Bahuri asked about SYL's condition on May 23, 2021. Then SYL said he wanted to visit Firli Bahuri's house. "And it was answered by Terperiksa (Firli), 'it's allowed, sir. Later tonight. I want to play tennis now'," said Haris. Then the communication happened again in June 2021. At that time, SYL sent a document. However, Haris did not explain what document was meant. "And it was answered by Terperiksa, 'I am communicating with nervousness'," said Haris.

In December 2021, SYL then invited Firli Bahuri to attend the anti-corruption day event at the Ministry of Agriculture. In June 2022, Firli Bahuri conveyed to Syahrul Yasin Limpo that he was in Pakato Village, Bonto Marranu Subdistrict, Gowa Regency, participating in the launching of the Anti-Corruption Village. "The (Firli) investigation never informed other leaders about the communications conducted through the WhatsApp application," said Haris.
