Approaching the end of 2023, the public was stirred by the polemic of the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling on case number 90/PUU-XXI/2023. Through the ruling, the MK allows regional leaders under the age of 40 to run for president or vice president. Article 169 letter q of Law No. 7/2017 (Election Law) stipulates that presidential and vice presidential candidates must be at least 40 years old.

This certainly sparked controversy in society, especially since at that time the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Anwar Usman, was the uncle of Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Shortly after the registration of Prabowo-Gibran as participants in the 2024 Presidential Election to the General Election Commission (KPU), the decision of Constitutional Court number 90 was brought to the Ethics Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK). Eventually, Anwar Usman was sanctioned and removed from his position as Chairman of the Constitutional Court.

After the Constitutional Court's decision was determined, a number of PDIP figures began openly criticizing President Jokowi. However, previously PDIP always seemed ready to defend if there were other parties who criticized Jokowi, who is also a member of PDIP. Moreover, one by one, Jokowi's family members began maneuvering away from PDIP.
