Surveyors in Brazil who are planning the construction of a new apartment complex were shocked when they discovered a number of bones and fragments of clay pottery. They immediately called an archaeologist to investigate the site, and the results were truly surprising: 43 human bones and around 100,000 artifacts have been found at the site.

Ceramic dating back 8,000-9,000 years was found beneath the layer mound, approximately two meters below it. Lage believes that the area now located in contemporary Brazil is a settlement area that is approximately 1,400 years older than previously estimated.
