Dream - The first archaeological excavation began at a site believed to be the tomb of Joshua. Archaeologists conducted excavations at Khirbet Tibnah, located in the West Bank in August 2022. Not only has the site been inhabited by humans for 4,000 years, but it also serves as the burial place of Prophet Joshua.
In Christian and Jewish teachings, this prophet Yusya is called by the name Joshua or Yosua. Although not mentioned in the Quran, the name of the prophet Yusya is mentioned in the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad PBUH. "Indeed, the sun has never been stopped for any human being, except for Prophet Yusya on the day he was traveling to Baitul Maqdis (for jihad). (HR. Ahmad in Al-Musnad from Abu Hurairah)"
Yusya bin Nun is a disciple of Prophet Musa. He was sent by Allah to continue the preaching of Prophet Musa among the Children of Israel.
The excavation is led by Dr. Dvir Raviv and students from the Department of Land of Israel Studies and Archaeology at Bar-Ilan University, along with volunteers from Israel and abroad. Khirbet Tibnah is located on a hill in southwest Samaria, east of Shoham near Halamish.
The following is the translation of the text from Bahasa to English while preserving any HTML tags: "The Khirbet Tibnah site has been inhabited by humans since the Bronze Age until the early Ottoman period, according to Bar-Ilan. Khirbet Tibnah is also known as Timnat-sini or Timnat-serah, which means the city given by the Israelites to Prophet Joshua. Therefore, the Israelites believe that Prophet Joshua lived and was buried at the Khirbet Tibnah site."
This site was surveyed in the 1800s and has been mentioned in a number of historical documents. Artifacts from the Biblical era, Hasmonean era, Roman era, and Ottoman era were discovered on this site throughout the 1900s.
Detailed site mapping was carried out by Raviv in 2015, by creating a sketch of the tomb, collecting pottery fragments, and documenting various relics and burial caves. From the detailed mapping, it shows evidence of the existence of a Jewish settlement in the area in the past. While the survey was conducted on the surface, this was the first archaeological excavation in Khirbet Tibnah. A week earlier, during preparations and surveys, the archaeologists found a number of artifacts.
Among them is a Roman spearhead dating back to the 2nd century AD. The tip of the spear is curved, indicating that it struck something.
"Maybe this is evidence of a fierce battle. But this is only an estimation," said Raviv, adding that the discovery of Roman weapons is considered rare in Israel. Usually, such relics are found in the shelter caves used by the rebels of the Roman army. In this excavation, Raviv hopes to associate the findings with the presence of the Roman military or the Bar Kochba rebellion."
Apart from spears, Raviv and his team found pottery and 18 coins, with four coins preserved well enough for identification. Among the 18 Roman coins, one dates back to 58-59 AD. Meanwhile, the others are silver coins from the Mamluk period (1260-1277).
The following translation preserves the HTML tags: "The silver coin has a picture of a lion on its surface, which is a symbol of Sultan Baibars Mamluk. "This area is the largest and most accessible in the region between Jerusalem and Samaria. "In addition, this city is the capital of a district and is an important fortress site in various periods," said Raviv.
The call is to summon and inform humans to prepare themselves before death.
