Dream - Citizens in Jakarta were delighted on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. Because the sky in Jakarta appeared bright blue. Previously, the sky in Jakarta looked gray as if cloudy due to high air pollution. Photos of the blue sky in Jakarta were widely uploaded by netizens on social media.
A number of netizens expressed their joy that the sky in Jakarta has turned blue again. According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the clear sky in Jakarta is the result of weather modification.
Since Monday, September 11, 2023, BNPB has been modifying the weather using water mist spraying with two Cessna aircraft.

It explains that this effort is carried out by BNPB together with BRIN, BMKG, TNI, and other related parties in the Jakarta area.
According to Abdul, this operation will be carried out from September 4th to September 11th, 2023, with a flying duration of 82 hours and 50 minutes, and will carry 70,500 liters of water to be sprayed to create artificial evaporation in the Jakarta sky. "In one day, each aircraft will make four sorties in several regions in Jakarta, including Central Jakarta, East Jakarta, and North Jakarta," said Abdul.
Abdul considers that the efforts have started to have a significant impact. He stated that there has been a decrease in the PM 2.5 pollutant levels in Jakarta according to IQAir, thus the sky in the Jakarta area is starting to appear clean. From Monday to Tuesday, the AQI (pollution level) in Jakarta decreased from 130 to 115.
"Unfortunately, this Wednesday afternoon the sky over Jakarta appears to be slightly hazy again. According to IQAir, the AQI has also risen to 157, categorized as unhealthy. Nevertheless, this condition is slightly better compared to July 25, 2023, with a figure of 168, which made Jakarta the world's worst air quality."
