Meaning of Jewish

In the Quran, it is explained in several verses about the Jews. There is a keyword through those verses that specifically explain, namely from the word al-yahud. Linguistically, al-yahud comes from the word h-w-d from the past tense verb hada-yahudu-haudan which means 'to return'.

However, the meaning has evolved to give rise to other meanings. As in the following verse from Al-Maidah: "O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you - then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people." (Surah Al-Maidah: 51)

Meanwhile, from the word Al-Yahud, it is said by Al-Ashfahani that the word is similar to the word al-haud which means ar-ruju'u bir rifqi or 'returning gently'. 1. Disobedience to Allah SWT

The Jewish rebellion began when Allah SWT appointed Prophet Muhammad as the last prophet and messenger. This made the Jews angry and resentful towards Prophet Muhammad.

2. Killing the Prophets

In Islam, Prophet and Messenger are honorable individuals trusted by Allah SWT to convey the teachings of Islam to the people. However, the Jews, on the contrary, killed the prophets sent from among themselves. This has been explained in Surah Al-Imran verse 112.

3. Cooperation with Non-Believers in Committing Misdeeds

Most Jews have narrow-minded thinking and are focused on material gain. This is what makes them collaborate with infidels in pursuit of worldly benefits. This has been explained in Al-Maidah verse 80.

4. Lowering the Commands of Allah SWT
