According to Unilad page, the shocking discovery was found inside the stomach of a 73-year-old grandmother. Inside the woman's stomach, a petrified fetus was found. Initially, the Algerian woman felt an unexplainable stomach pain. She was then rushed to the emergency department of a hospital.

The doctor who handled the patient did the right thing. They scanned the elderly patient's stomach. But they were surprised to find out the cause of the old woman's stomachache. The doctor's team found a "stone baby" in the fallopian tube.

According to the National Library of Medicine, litopedion is a very rare condition that refers to ectopic pregnancy [pregnancy outside the uterus] that develops into fetal death and calcification occurs. A doctor named Karan Raj said through his TikTok channel, "This is when the fetus dies during ectopic pregnancy."

Ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg attaches outside the womb, usually in one of the fallopian tubes. The National Health Service (NHS) in England states that ectopic pregnancies cannot be saved due to the risks they pose to the mother's health if the baby continues to grow. Surgery is usually the only option.

"\u201cThis is a very rare type of ectopic pregnancy where the fetus grows outside of the uterus,\u201d said Dr. Raj. \u201cIf the deceased fetus is too large to be reabsorbed by the mother's body, then it becomes a foreign object to the mother's immune system,\u201d he added."

In the case of the elderly female patient, the fetus that has already calcified is 35 years old. Many TikTok viewers of Dr. Raj admitted to being surprised by this finding, with one commenting, "Isn't it crazy what our bodies can naturally do?"
