Dream - istighfar and repentance may be considered by most Muslims as the same thing. However, in reality, there are clear differences between istighfar and repentance. In the Quran and hadith, the word istighfar by itself means repentance. But, if istighfar and repentance are mentioned in the same sentence, then there is a difference between istighfar and repentance itself. Where istighfar is asking for forgiveness from Allah SWT to be protected from sins. Whereas repentance is returning to Allah SWT to be kept away from mistakes and future sins.

By reciting istighfar, sins can be forgiven and rewards will increase. The benefits of reciting istighfar include cleansing the heart and soul, purifying oneself, and getting closer to Allah. The wisdom behind reciting istighfar is that humans are weak creatures who often make mistakes, but Allah always opens the door of forgiveness for His servants who repent. In a hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah, the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: "

"By the grace of the One in whose hands my soul lies, I truly seek forgiveness from Allah and repent more than seventy times every day." This shows the importance of seeking forgiveness in the life of a Muslim. By reciting istighfar, one can avoid the punishment of Allah, obtain His forgiveness, and find peace and blessings in life.

From the explanation above, it can be concluded that the virtue and benefits of reading istighfar are very great and important in the life of a Muslim. Through istighfar, a person can improve their relationship with Allah, cleanse themselves from sins, and obtain blessings in their life.

Repentance also involves confessing sins, deep regret, and the intention to improve oneself. Nasuha repentance is repentance that is done sincerely, wholeheartedly, and sincerely without any intention to repeat the sin. The meaning of repentance itself is the process of seeking forgiveness from Allah SWT for the sins that have been committed. Imam Al Ghazali stated that repentance is the key to success in this world and the hereafter.

As explained in the Qur'an in Surah An-Nasr verses 1-3, which states: "When the victory of Allah has come and the conquest, and you see the people entering into the religion of Allah in multitudes, then exalt [Him] with praise of your Lord and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of repentance." Thus, although repentance and seeking forgiveness are often used together, they have important differences in concept and process.
