Dream - James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) owned by NASA discovered the oldest black hole in the universe. The age of this Supermassive Black Hole is estimated to be 13 billion years. Meaning, this black hole was formed 400 million years after the Big Bang, the theory of the early explosion of the universe.

According to Roberto Maiolino, a Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Cambridge, this discovery suggests that black holes may have formed in different ways, possibly being born large or consuming matter faster than we previously thought. "It's not the age that surprises us, it's the fact that it was already so big in the early universe, which is difficult to explain with standard theory," said Maiolino, as reported by Newsweek.

Apparently, new research from HWST reveals that the high luminosity in the galaxy does not come from existing stars, but rather from hot gas swirling around the black hole. The black hole may be devouring its host galaxy too quickly, slowly killing it by halting the formation of new stars.
