Dream - Indonesian Anti-Slander Society (Mafindo) found 2,330 hoaxes during the year 2023. Most of the hoaxes information uncovered discussed political issues with a total of 1,292.

The Chairman of Mafindo's Presidium, Septiaji Eko Nugroho, explained that all pairs of Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) are the main targets of political hoaxes. The content contains both positive and negative connotations.

He explained, Presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan is the most mentioned candidate in the hoax narrative. The former minister and governor of Jakarta became the target of hoax information with 206 positive tones and 116 negative tones.

While his partner, Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin), received 17 positive-tone hoaxes and 5 negative ones. The number is very large compared to Presidential candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto, who is mentioned in 28 positive-tone hoaxes and 66 negative ones.

While his representative, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, was mentioned in 12 positive and 74 negative hoaxes.
