According to Sheikh Abdurrahman Al-Juzairi, iqamah is a notification that it is time for Muslims to perform prayer using the predetermined phrases. In the book "Success in this World and the Hereafter with Daily Prayers" by Mahmud Asy-Syafrowi, iqamah literally means 'to establish', which means to perform prayer.

According to Imam Nawawi in the book Al-Adzkar, the call to prayer (adzan) and the call to commence prayer (iqamah) should ideally only be recited at their designated times, which is before performing the obligatory prayer (sholat fardhu). However, the call to prayer (adzan) can also be proclaimed for other purposes, such as when reciting it in the ear of a newborn baby.

Before knowing the prayer after iqamah, it would be good for Sahabat Dream to also know the iqamah recitation that is often proclaimed before the start of obligatory prayers. Here is the iqamah recitation that has the same wording as the adhan: لله أَّكْبَر الله أَّكْبَر، أَّشْهَدُ أنْ لاَّ إِلهَ إِلاَّ الله، أَّشْهَدُ أَّنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ الله ، حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلاةِ، حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ، قَدْقَامَتِ الصَّلَاةِ قَدْقَامَتِ الصَّلَاةِ، الله أَّكْبَر الله أَّكْبَر، لاَّ إِلهَ إِلاَّ الله

Quoting from the book Al-Adzkar by Imam Nawawi, the Prophet Muhammad PBUH exemplified the prayer after the iqamah, which is: أَقَامَهَا اللَّهُ وَأَدَامَهَا (Aqaamahaa Allahu wa adaamahaa). It means: "May Allah establish it and perpetuate it."

"O Allah, the Lord of this complete call and established prayer, send blessings upon Prophet Muhammad and fulfill his request on the Day of Resurrection."

Iqamah is recited to invite Muslims to perform congregational prayer, whether in mosques, prayer rooms, or other Muslim places of worship. It reminds Muslims to promptly perform congregational prayer. It enhances the spirit and awareness in performing obligatory prayers.
