Dream - Keeping one's tongue is a common behavior of humans that is important to pay attention to for Muslims. With a controlled tongue, everyone can avoid misunderstandings when speaking to others. However, as humans, it is normal to make mistakes in life. This includes when speaking. As long as one does not repeat the mistake, apologizes, and learns from it, God willing, that mistake will be forgiven by Allah SWT. In addition, it is important for Dream's friends to know the etiquette of speaking and the prayer readings for guarding the tongue.

The following is a prayer reading to guard one's tongue that can be practiced by Dream friends as quoted from lampung.nu.or.id: "Allahumma-j'al shamtī fikran wa nuthqī dzikran." Meaning: "O Allah, make my silence a reflection and my speech a remembrance." By reciting the above prayer to guard the tongue, hopefully, we will always be prevented from uttering words that can hurt others. Additionally, it can also protect us from the evil of our tongue.

The first virtue of guarding the tongue is having a high position as a Muslim. Because by guarding the tongue, a person can control their speech so as not to utter words that bring sin. One day, the Prophet Muhammad was asked, "Who is the most virtuous Muslim?" The Prophet Muhammad answered, "The person who can guard their tongue and hands from doing harm to others." (HR. Bukhari)

The next virtue when someone guards their tongue is promised paradise by Allah SWT. As explained in a hadith from Sahl bin Sa'd ra, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever can give me a guarantee about the goodness of what is between their two jaws, meaning their mouth or tongue, and between their two legs, meaning their private parts, then I guarantee paradise for them." (Narrated by Bukhari)

When we can keep our tongue well, not uttering bad words, then Allah SWT will keep us away from destruction. Because someone who speaks without thinking carefully beforehand, will be destroyed in the hereafter. Moreover, the face of that person will fall into hell. The Prophet Muhammad once said when speaking to Mu'adh bin Jabal ra: "

"Would you like me to tell you about the key to all of these matters?" He answered, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." Then he held his tongue and said, "Guard this." He asked, "O Messenger of Allah, will we be held accountable (punished) for what we say?" Then he said, "Woe to you. Is there anything that causes people to fall on their faces in Hellfire other than the words of their tongues?" (HR. Tirmidhi)

"In this life, everything we do is with the intention of seeking rida from Allah SWT. This includes when we are speaking. When we speak well and utter good words, insya Allah His rida will come to us. As the Prophet Muhammad said:"

"Indeed, a person speaks with a sentence that is blessed by Allah and he does not expect what (is determined by Allah) will come to him, then Allah records His blessings for him on the day he meets Allah." (HR. Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, Imam Malik, and Ahmad)

The last virtue when we keep our tongue well is that it can make us close to the Prophet Muhammad in heaven later. Because a well-kept tongue also shows a person's good character. As explained in the following hadith: "Indeed, what I love most among you and the closest to me in position on the Day of Judgment are those of you with the best character." (Narrated by Tirmidhi)
