Dream - In a post on X, Mathures Paul, a journalist, tells his terrifying experience. Passengers on the Air India plane escaped serious injury when they almost swallowed a piece of razor blade. The sharp object was found in the food served on their flight from Bengaluru to San Francisco.

In that incident, Paul was on flight AI 175 from Bengaluru to San Francisco on June 9th.

Paul said that he almost swallowed the knife while consuming baked sweet potato dish and fig fruit salad served on the plane. "I felt it (the knife) after chewing the food for a few seconds. Fortunately, there were no injuries," wrote Paul in X.

Of course, the fault lies entirely with Air India's catering service. However, this incident worsens its image towards Air India.

"He said that the flight attendant apologized 'only for three seconds and came back with a bowl of Arabian nuts'. 'What would happen if the piece of metal is in the food served for a child?' he asked."

Paul claimed that Air India contacted him a few days after the incident. They offered a 'free business class trip anywhere in the world' as compensation, but he refused it. "That's a bribe and I can't accept it," the journalist firmly stated.

Meanwhile, in response to the incident, Air India issued a statement confirming that a 'foreign object' was found in the passenger's food. Air India also stated that they have conducted an investigation into the shocking incident.

They claimed that the object originated from a vegetable processing machine used in Air India's catering partner facility. "We have investigated and identified the source as a vegetable processing machine used by our catering partner," said Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer of Air India, in his statement.

This airline initiated an investigation after passengers uploaded on X that there was a metal object resembling a blade in their food.

However, airline officials did not comment on whether the affected passengers were offered a business class trip as compensation. Air India stated that they have worked with their catering partners to strengthen measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring. This includes more frequent inspections of food processing machines, especially after cutting hard vegetables. "Air India has communicated with the affected customers and sincerely apologizes for this experience," they added.

This is the second incident involving food on the long-haul flights of Tata Group. Complaints from passengers about the dirty Air India cabin, poor food, and others are often found on social media.
