Sad news came from former Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and prominent economist, Rizal Ramli, who reportedly passed away on Tuesday, (2/1/2024). Rizal Ramli passed away at the age of 69 at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.
"We mourn the passing of Mr. Rizal Ramli on January 2, 2024, at 19:30 WIB at RSCM," said Tofa Lemon, Spokesperson for the Anies - Cak Imin National Winning Team, as reported by Liputan6.com."

Reported from the website ekon.go.id, Rizal Ramli was born in Padang, West Sumatra, on December 10, 1954. The late was a former student activist, economist, and politician of Indonesia. Rizal Ramli has served as a member of the United Nations (UN) economic advisory panel at the international level, collaborating with several economists from various countries.
"Although offered the position of Secretary General of the Economic & Social Commission of Asia and Pacific (ESCAP) by the UN in November 2013, Rizal Ramli declined it to remain focused on his service within the country and as a manifestation of his loyalty to the Indonesian nation."

Rizal Ramli, a graduate of the Physics Engineering Department at ITB, has a diverse history of leadership in the government. In the era of President Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) and President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), he held several important positions.
During Gus Dur's era, Rizal Ramli served as the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs (Coordinating Minister of Economy) and the Finance Minister of Indonesia in the National Unity Cabinet.
In the era of President Jokowi's administration, Rizal Ramli served as the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. However, on July 27, 2016, his position was replaced by Luhut B. Panjaitan.
In addition, he has experience as the chief commissioner of several state-owned enterprises such as PT. Semen Gresik and Bank Nasional Indonesia. In September 2013, Rizal Ramli also became the Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In his departure, Rizal Ramli left behind three children, three sons-in-law/daughters-in-law, and two grandchildren.
Tofa mentioned that Rizal Ramli's family apologizes to the public if Rizal Ramli has ever made mistakes during his lifetime.
"We, the entire family, apologize if there were any mistakes made by him during his lifetime," said Tofa.
