While his mother, Biantingsih, is the older sister of Prabowo Subianto. It is no wonder that Thomas Djiwandono follows in the footsteps of his extended family by being involved in the world of economy and politics. In the political arena, Thomas currently holds the position of General Treasurer of the Gerindra Party, the party founded by his uncle, Prabowo.

Reported from Gerindra.id, Thomas Djiwandono is from an educated and well-off family. He attended Kanisius Junior High School in Menteng, Jakarta. He pursued his college education abroad. He studied history at Haverford College, Pennsylvania, United States, and obtained a master's degree in International Relations and International Economics from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, Washington, United States.

His career began as an intern journalist at Tempo Magazine in 1993 and in 1994 he became a journalist at Indonesia Business Weekly. In addition, Thomas Djiwandono also worked as a financial analyst at Whetlock NatWest Securities, Hong Kong.

While in politics, Tommy has also been a candidate for legislative member in West Kalimantan. Now, he is the General Treasurer of the Gerindra Party. He is in charge of the party's finances. During the 2014 Presidential Election, supporting the Prabowo-Hatta pair, Tommy's role was very important for the Red-White Coalition (KMP) in terms of logistical needs.

Tommy is very serious and always keeps a very neat record of the party's financial activities. Thanks to the excellent performance of Thomas Djiwandono, Gerindra Party can be proud to achieve the best ranking as a political party with the most transparent financial reports.
