Dream – Besides becoming a popular cultural field like K-Pop and Korean dramas, it turns out that education in South Korea is known to be highly competitive.
"As the most advanced country, South Korea continues to push education towards high academic achievements. Every year, the government even has to stop or divert flights during exams to reduce disruptions. Many students admit to competing fiercely and giving their all, even to the point of exhaustion, in order to be admitted to the best Dream campus in the country."
"Surely their efforts are not in vain because of the presence of any cheating and mistakes from various other parties during the exam."
Although so, not long ago the incident of college entrance exams being closed 90 seconds early became the talk of the town among young people in South Korea. Students who were dissatisfied demanded the government's attention and requested compensation amounting to hundreds of millions of rupiah.
Quoted from businessinsider.com, a famous college entrance exam known as suneung experienced a technical error. 39 students demanded compensation from the government after one of the supervisors at Kyungdong High School accidentally closed the exam early. According to local media reports, Yonhap, the supervisor mistakenly clicked the exam closure bell before the designated time. As a result of this incident, Kyungdong students are demanding compensation of approximately Rp232 million per person.
The government, which responded to the students' protests, then returned their papers for 90 seconds during lunchtime. The students are only allowed to fill in the unanswered questions, but not to correct the answers from previous questions.
"Nevertheless, the students admitted that this mistake is not commensurate with its impact. The students are already disappointed with the retest conducted during lunch break."
They feel disturbed and some even leave the exam because they feel desperate.
Apart from not providing much assistance, this retest is also mentioned to disturb the rest time and make the students unfocused on the next exam. (Report: M Bintang Alfan Nur Fauzi)
