The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) once narrated a conversation between Prophet Moses (pbuh) and Allah SWT: "O Lord, teach me something to remember You and pray to You." Allah SWT said, "Say, O Moses, 'laa ilaha illallah' (there is no god but Allah)." Prophet Moses (pbuh) said, "O Lord, all Your servants say that." Then, Allah SWT said, "O Moses, if the seven heavens and all their inhabitants, except for Me, and the seven earths were placed on one side of the scale, and the phrase 'laa ilaha illallah' was placed on the other side, the phrase 'laa ilaha illallah' would outweigh them." (Narrated by Ibn Hibban)

The first pillar, which is an-Nafyu, is found in the phrase 'laa ilaha'. It means 'there is no deity'. The meaning behind this phrase is to negate, deny, or eliminate all deities other than Allah SWT. Then, in the second pillar, which is al-Itsbat, is found in the phrase 'illallah'. It means 'except Allah'. The meaning behind this phrase is to affirm that the attributes of worship are solely for Allah SWT.

Even the Prophet Muhammad once commanded the polytheistic Quraysh to practice the declaration of monotheism. However, they responded as described in Surah Shad verse 5: "Why does he make the gods into one God? Indeed, this is truly a very astonishing thing." (QS.
