Dream - After fasting during the month of Ramadan, Muslims now celebrate Eid al-Fitr in the year 1445 Hijri. Lebaran is an important time for Muslims to forgive each other and to visit one another. Islam teaches us to forgive the mistakes of others, especially our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters.
"Therefore, Idul Fitri is the perfect time for people who have made mistakes to forgive each other. But, sometimes there is a question of whether we should forgive someone we hate during Idul Fitri? And what is the law regarding not forgiving someone we hate during Idul Fitri? Without further ado, let's continue reading the complete review!"
Idul Fitri is the right time to forgive each other among fellow Muslims. Including those who have hurt our feelings. Forgiving is a good and commendable action, because Allah SWT strongly recommends it.
In a story conveyed by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), it is said that there are two individuals who will be held accountable by Allah SWT. One of them is promised paradise, while the other will be thrown into hell. However, the person who will be thrown into hell actually demands what is the responsibility of the person who will be admitted to paradise, hoping to avoid hell.
So, Allah SWT commanded that person to invite those who have been accounted for previously to enter His Paradise together. As a result, both of them successfully entered that beautiful Paradise together.
The story teaches us how Allah SWT advises us to forgive each other because forgiveness is one of Allah SWT's attributes. As mentioned in the Qur'an, Surah Az Zumar, verse 53 which says: Qul ya 'ibadiyallazina asrafu 'ala anfusihim la taqnatu mir rahmatillah, innallaha yagfiruz-zunuba jami'a, innahu huwal-gafurur-rahim.
Translation: Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
Translation: "Meaning: "Say: 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'" From this verse, we can understand that Allah always opens the door of mercy and forgiveness for those who have transgressed. This verse reminds Muslims not to despair of the mercy of Allah. In fact, Allah will forgive all sins of His creatures as long as they sincerely repent and seek His forgiveness."
Forgiveness is one of the attributes of Allah SWT, so when humans possess that attribute, it is very noble. Even the Prophet Muhammad SAW set an example of not holding grudges against anyone, even though he was insulted, slandered, hurt, or falsely accused. The Prophet Muhammad SAW even sought forgiveness for the sins of those who had oppressed him. That is why, as believers, we should follow his teachings to forgive anyone who has ever hurt us.
On this joyous day of Eid al-Fitr, it is best for us to avoid and let go of any feelings of resentment or hatred towards those who have hurt us, whether intentionally or unintentionally. By doing so, Allah SWT, the Most Forgiving, will grant forgiveness for all the sins we have committed. So, let us forgive those who have wronged us, including those we may despise.
