"The Emergence of the Green Dome"

Historians state that the existence of the green dome above the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad in the Prophet's Mosque (Masjid Nabawi) only emerged in 678 Hijri or 1279 AD by Sultan Qalawun. Originally, this dome was the color of wood. Then it was painted white, then blue, and finally green, as it appears today.

Uniquely, beneath the green dome of the Nabawi Mosque lies the tomb of Prophet Muhammad SAW. This is referred to by Professor Ali Hafidz as something that has never been seen before.

"Before becoming a mausoleum, the space under the dome of Masjid Nabawi used to be the residence of Rasulullah SAW.\r\n\r\nIn the past, on the roof of the mosque, which was in line with the room, there was a long piece of wood about half the size of a standing person to distinguish between the burial space and other parts of the mosque's roof.\r\n\r\nSo, when was the Dome of Masjid Nabawi built above the Prophet's Mausoleum?"

During the time of An-Nasir Hasan bin Muhammad Qalawun, the dome was renovated again. The copper plates were cracked, then renewed and strengthened during the time of Al-Asyraf Sya'ban bin Husain bin Muhammad in the year 765 H. But there was damage, and it was repaired during the time of Sultan Qaytabai in 881 H. Then a great fire occurred in 886 H. During the time of Sultan Qaytabai in the year 887 H, the dome was renovated again. A strong foundation was made on the ground and built by raising its walls. At that time, the mosque dome was not yet green in color.
