Dream - When a famous campus student graduates with cum laude predicate, people will surely imagine a bright future. Besides receiving praise and admiration for her intelligence, a cum laude graduate will surely easily obtain a cool job. However, a different thing happened to a beautiful girl named Dea Rachma, a graduate of Gadjah Mada University.
The owner of the Instagram account @dearaleyden shared his life story after graduating with cum laude honors from UGM. After graduating with cum laude honors from a prestigious university in Indonesia, Dea immediately got a job.
Initially, Dea worked at a 5-star hotel. Dea even became a model for several fashion show events in the homeland. Until one day, Dea decided to 'migrate' to Australia and start her life adventure.
In the country nicknamed the Land of Kangaroos, Dea applied for the Working Holiday Visa Subclass 462 (WHV). With WHV in her hands, Dea can freely enter and exit Australia and work there for a full year. If Dea wants to, she can also study, even if it's only for four months.
However, unexpectedly, when Dea was already in Australia, she instead got a job that had nothing to do with her major at UGM.
"In her current position, Dea works as a FIFO Utility or Housekeeping. Her job is to be a cleaner. 'I graduated cum laude from UGM, why am I only a cleaner in Australia?' Dea wrote in her post."
Initially, many thought Dea went to Australia to continue her S2 studies. Meanwhile, working as a cleaner was just her side job. However, Dea denied it. Dea admitted that she works full time as a cleaner there.
Unlike in Indonesia, Dea works for 9 days for 11 hours, and gets 5 days off. "Work for 11 hours, 1 hour lunch break, 30 minutes another break," she wrote in the video.
Dea told about the tasks that she had to do as a Housekeeping in Australia. It turns out that the tasks that Dea has to do in a day are quite numerous and exhausting. "Cleaning laundry, cleaning rooms, cleaning public areas, microfiber laundry, room check, laundry audit, and so on," she said.
With a uniform similar to that of a firefighter, Dea even got the task of cleaning the toilet.
Although the work is considered tiring and looked down upon in Indonesia, Dea does not regret her choice.
Dea is proud of her profession as Housekeeping. She is even grateful for being given the opportunity to experience life abroad. "At first it was difficult, but gradually I got used to it. I am grateful for being given the opportunity to work in Australia," she said.
