Dream - Idul Adha is just around the corner. This is a big day after Idul Fitri that is always celebrated by Muslims with joy. On this day of Idul Adha, Muslims will perform the Id prayer and then proceed to sacrifice animals. The meat of the sacrificial animals, such as cows, buffaloes, goats, and sheep, will be cut up and distributed. So, who are eligible to receive the sacrificial meat?

The first person who is entitled to receive the sacrificial meat is the person who performs the sacrifice. In this case, it has been agreed by the scholars that the person who performs the sacrifice is divided into two categories. Namely, the sacrificial animal that is dedicated (obligatory) and the sacrificial animal that is not dedicated (recommended). If a person performs the sacrifice due to a vow, then they are not allowed to take the meat of the sacrificial animal.

While a person who sacrifices is a sunnah, it is allowed to receive their share of 1/3 of the sacrificial animal's meat. However, both of them are not allowed to sell the sacrificial meat. As the saying of the Prophet Muhammad: "If any of you sacrifices, then eat some of its meat." (HR. Ahmad)

The next person who is entitled to receive sacrificial meat is the neighbor and relatives. They are allowed to obtain sacrificial meat even if they are well-off. The amount of meat they are entitled to receive is one-third. Regarding the portion of the sacrificial animal intended for the family and relatives, it has been explained in the following saying of the Prophet Muhammad:

"Use one-third of the sacrificial meat for your family, give one-third to your needy neighbors, and give one-third as charity to those who ask." (HR. Ibnu Umar)

Afifuddin Muhajir in Fathul Mujibil Qarib: "The person who performs the sacrifice is obligated to give (feed) a portion of the sacrificial animal to the poor and needy through the act of donating its fresh meat. Making the meat as cooked food and inviting the poor to eat it is not sufficient as a form of sacrifice. The main thing is to donate all the sacrificial meat except for a bite, two bites, or a few bites" (KH Afifuddin Muhajir, Fathul Mujibil Qarib).
