Dream - Indonesia has a great potential for natural tourism. However, unfortunately, there are still many people who lack awareness in taking care of tourist locations by littering. Actually, trash bins have been provided in various tourist spots, but the waste problem has not been resolved due to the lack of public awareness. One tourist location that struggles to manage waste is the Gunung Gede Pangrango area in Cianjur, West Java. The hikers who come here still have a low level of awareness regarding trash.
The condition prompted Danone Aqua to invite the community, including Dream, to participate in the Clean Action of Mount Gede Pangrango. They urge the public to be more concerned about the destination by picking up trash at tourist locations.
Jeffri Ricardo, Senior Manager Packaging Circularity of Danone Indonesia said.
In carrying out waste management initiatives, Danone-Indonesia supports the development of waste collection systems, recycling centers, and processing facilities within the Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park area. These activities include providing plastic waste drop boxes, building compost houses, and providing assistance in waste management where the collected waste will be managed by Danone Indonesia's Recycling Business Unit (RBU) to be processed into plastic bottles again. "All of these are strategies to address waste issues in tourist destinations, both through environmentally friendly packaging design and through innovation in products that support a more environmentally friendly ecosystem," said Jefri.
Not only that, these plastic bottles are also able to boost micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by transforming them into various handicrafts.
In addition, plastic bottle waste is also utilized by Cinta Bagja Al Bayan Islamic boarding school, which is located not far from Mount Gede Pangrango. Usually, these plastic wastes are collected to be made into handicrafts for the students. Plastic waste is also collected to be sold again and become one of the additional sources of income for the boarding school.
