"Mysterious Writing on the Door of Auckland Hotel Confuses American Tourists, Strangely, Local Residents Also Do Not Know"
"So what is actually the meaning of that writing?"
"So what is actually the meaning of that writing?"
Dream - Travelers will definitely find new and interesting things that catch their attention when traveling to destinations they have never visited before. It's so unusual that some travelers can be curious about the new things they see due to their discovery.
The curious feeling is what surrounds the mind of an American tourist when vacationing in New Zealand. A tourist named Olivia was confused by the meaning of a writing she found in a hotel in Auckland.
To avoid waiting for a long time to get an answer, he shared his confusion through a photo that he uploaded to a private Facebook group called New Zealand Travel Tips (NZTT).
The photo depicts a gray hotel door with a sticker that says 'Toaster Station' or 'Tempat/Stasiun Pemanggang Roti'.
"I searched for it online and in this group but couldn't find the answer," Olivia writes. She added that she found the 'confusing' item at the door on the seventh floor of the President Hotel in Auckland, where she was staying. In her imagination, the writing pointed to a place where hotel guests could toast bread. But it seems Olivia's assumption was wrong. "I thought maybe it's like a small coffee shop where you can toast bagels as a side dish, but when I opened the door, there was nothing like that," she wrote."
In the post that she shared with the 83,314 members of the group, Olivia added that she had asked about the 'Toaster Station' to two New Zealand residents and a family who had been living in New Zealand for five years. However, none of those people knew the meaning of the writing.
Olivia's confusion grew even more when the Kiwi residents in the travel group said they didn't know the meaning of the writing on the hotel door. "I DON'T know, and I live in New Zealand," wrote someone believed to be a Kiwi resident. But there were also some who commented that Olivia should directly ask the hotel about it. "You should ask the receptionist and report back," added another person. Meanwhile, someone suggested that they should call the hotel and then share the answer with the travel group on Facebook.
Some people in this group also believe that the door has a sign 'Exit from Fire', which depicts someone being 'roasted' when they do not escape from the fire. According to a spokesperson from CPG Hotels, via Nzherald.co.nz, who manages the President Hotel, the initial suspicion of the tourist is believed to be true. This room is a small kitchen with a toaster, a refrigerator, and other facilities for long-staying guests. However, Olivia admits that she did not see any kitchen equipment in that place. It is reported that the small kitchen area can only be accessed by long-staying guests using a key card.
Yup, 'culture shock' is definitely experienced by every tourist because of the differences in understanding and culture adopted by each country. This is considered normal for every traveler and local resident. But what if the local residents are also unfamiliar with the terms found in their place of residence? Source and photo: Nzherald.co.nz
