Dream - After the Covid-19 pandemic, many people are looking for vacation spots by visiting open natural tourist attractions such as beaches and mountains. People are increasingly interested in nature tourism or adventure, such as trekking, hiking, and rafting. One of the favorite natural tourist attractions, which is not far from Jakarta and its surroundings, is the Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park. Visitors to the trekking travel destination who want to climb or simply enjoy nature in the conservation area have experienced a surge of up to 5.29 million visitors in 2022.

"Unfortunately, the increase in visitors has not been accompanied by awareness to dispose of trash properly. One new problem faced with the surge of visitors in Gunung Pangrango National Park is the accumulation of trash along the climbing routes."

"As a form of real contribution and support for the government's efforts to increase awareness in tackling waste issues, Danone Aqua encourages multi-sector collaboration by initiating a clean-up action in the mountains entitled '#BijakBerplastik: Clean-Up Action in Mount Gede Pangrango'."

In this activity, the Dream team had the opportunity to participate together with the surrounding community and nature lovers community who directly involved in cleaning the Gunung Gede Pangrango area. The team carried out cleaning actions starting from the entrance to the colored lake.

"To overcome the problem of plastic waste, collaboration across sectors and increased public awareness in preserving the environment are needed. Through this activity, we hope to inspire others to support plastic waste management in Indonesia."

According to Sapto Aji Prabowo, Head of Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park, the most commonly found waste is plastic waste. He hopes that this plastic-wise initiative can reduce waste around the climbing area and help preserve the surrounding flora and fauna.

Apart from conducting clean-up actions on the mountain climbing route of Mount Gede Pangrango, Danone Aqua also carries out a series of efforts to build a circular economic infrastructure and a more sustainable waste management system in the Gede Pangrango National Park. Some of these activities include providing plastic waste collection drop boxes, building compost houses in the Gede Pangrango National Park area along with the necessary equipment, and providing waste management assistance where the collected waste will be managed by Danone Aqua's Recycling Business Unit (RBU) to be processed into plastic bottles again.
