Gates predicted that there would come a time when people wouldn't need to work too hard just to meet their basic needs. In March, Gates wrote that the emergence of AI could have an equally significant impact on society as mobile phones and the Internet.

"Your children will live up to 100 years old and not suffer from cancer because of technology, and they may only work three and a half days a week," said the banking executive to Bloomberg.

"Technology always replaces jobs," said the banker. "Technology has done extraordinary things for humanity," he said.
