"Dream - Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DGCE) Ministry of Finance (MOF) will tighten the movement of import service business actors."
The Director of Revenue and Strategic Planning of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance, Mohammad Aflah Farobi, stated that jastip business is considered illegal import activity as it does not pay the required customs duties.
Mohammad said, quoted from Liputan6.com, Wednesday, 27 September 2023.
Aflah reveals, so far import business actors often play hide and seek with Customs officers. The aim is to avoid the imposition of import duties. "Because if it's a jastip (buying service), it's half a gamble. If they are caught by Customs, they have to pay import duties," he explained.
"Therefore, he urges the public not to buy imported products from jastip. This step is to protect the competitiveness of local MSME products from the onslaught of illegal imported goods. 'Let's protect domestic production together,' he said."
The Directorate General of Customs and Excise will also tighten regulations on jastip businesses that sell imported goods below US$100 or Rp1.54 million (assuming an exchange rate of Rp 15,478).
"Expressed Mohammad."
Not only tightening movement, Customs officers will also collect information (profiling) on import business jastip perpetrators. Especially for those who often go back and forth at vulnerable points of import smuggling.
"This Jastip is carried by passengers, so we will profile passengers who frequently travel through the airport. We map out who comes to the airport twice a week. Or in Batam, they can go back and forth to Singapore twice a day," he explained."
