"Dream - the iPhone is still a favorite among the public. Many people are working hard to get it, including the people in India. Recently, Apple lowered the price of the iPhone in India. This was done by the tech giant after the local government reduced import duties on imported products. The big tech company is also considering assembling the iPhone Pro in India for the first time."
According to TechCrunch, Apple has reduced the price of the iPhone in India by about 3-4 percent. This was done after the Indian government cut the import duty on smartphones from 20 percent to 15 percent. That is why Apple is offering discounts on iPhone products. The discounts offered by Apple start from 300 Rupees, equivalent to around IDR 58 thousand, for the iPhone 13, iPhone 14, and iPhone 15 produced in India. Meanwhile, for the iPhone SE 3, Apple is offering a discount of 2,333 Rupees, equivalent to around IDR 447 thousand.
The series that received the highest discount is the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone Pro Max with a price cut of 6,000 Rupees or around Rp 1.1 million. Of course, this is the first time for Apple to cut the price of the latest iPhone Pro in India.
"Nevertheless, the price of the iPhone in India is still considered very high compared to other countries, including Indonesia."
For example, the price of the iPhone 15 Pro in India is around 129,800 Rupees or equivalent to approximately Rp 25.2 million. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the price of the iPhone 15 Pro starts at Rp 21 million. It is known that recently India has become one of the key countries for Apple, both for sales and production of iPhones. This is because the tech giant's revenue from India reached USD 8.7 billion in 2023, an increase of 42 percent from the previous year.
"Meanwhile in China, the position of the iPhone is increasingly threatened. According to a report from Canalys, the market share of the iPhone in China is 14 percent in the second quarter of 2024. This means that Apple's position has been eliminated from the top five in the Chinese smartphone market."
"Even iPhone sales in India also rose by 39 percent to 9.2 million units in 2023. Quoting from TechCrunch on July 29, 2024, this data makes India the fifth largest country for iPhone sales. Not only that, the market share of iPhone also increased in India. This is influenced by the improving domestic economic conditions. According to data from UBS and Counterpoint, the market share of iPhone in India reached double digits in the fourth quarter of 2023."
"Meanwhile, India has successfully produced about 14 percent of the total iPhones worldwide. This figure is expected to continue rising along with the expansion of Foxconn's manufacturing facilities and other Apple partners. Reportedly, Apple will assemble the iPhone 16 Pro in India starting this year."
