This profession is also currently the dream of Generation Z. A survey initiated by The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) revealed that the profession of professional accountant is the top career choice for Generation Z in the financial sector. The survey was conducted in the third quarter of 2023, involving 248 respondents from various demographics of Generation Z in Indonesia."

"Approximately 34.9 percent of respondents chose this path because the educational major aligns with the finance or accounting sector. Meanwhile, 22.9 percent of respondents had different reasons. This group sees prospects in the finance or accounting field as a good career choice and clearly considers it an important factor in choosing a career in this field."

"Professional accountants are the dominant choice with a percentage of 32.3 percent, followed by private banking institutions in second place. The main reason that makes the choice of professional accountants the top option is the prospect of career development and guaranteed experience."

Based on data released by the Financial Professional Development Center of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia (PPPK Kemenkeu) as of October 9, 2023, there are 1,525 professional accountants registered as active members and 479 Public Accounting Firms (KAP). "The high demand in this industry reflects the continuously evolving needs and is a reflection of the vitality of the profession," said Head ICAEW of Indonesia, Conny Siahaan, in a statement, quoted on Thursday, December 21, 2023.
