Dream - Elementary School (SD) teachers in the IKN area, Sepaku District, Penajam Paser Utara Regency (PPU), East Kalimantan (Kaltim) are receiving English language and national insight training. The training is organized by the Capital City Authority of Indonesia (IKN) in collaboration with the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) to enhance the capacity and quality of human resources (HR) for elementary school teachers in the IKN area.

Deputy for Social, Cultural, and Community Empowerment of IKN Authority, Alimuddin, believes that English language lessons are highly necessary for students because IKN will go global. Not only Indonesian society will visit Sepaku, but also people from abroad.

"The effort is accompanied by making English lessons at the elementary school level a mandatory subject, and no longer a local content."

Alimuddin said, English is not because there is a curriculum, but it is mandatory to be given to the students. "Even when I was still the Head of the PPU Education Office, I had already prepared an English language program from the elementary school level. Sometimes we are the example, the place where people learn," he said.

During this time, various activities have been carried out by his party in an effort to develop human resources in Sepaku. And now his party is providing guidance and training to the educators. "Previously, the general public was given various skills training, so educators also need to be equipped with sufficient knowledge, so that they can keep up with the existing developments, especially since IKN has become a destination for people, including its technology," he added.

Associate Professor ITB, Nia Kurniasih, expressed that at least 50 teachers from all elementary schools in Sepaku participated in this activity.

The urgency of this training being held in Sepaku, according to them, is because the capital city moved to Sepaku right at the time of destructive era, or significant changes in communication technology.

"He assesses that if these educators are not equipped from now on, it is feared that many problems will occur in facing future technological developments. "The transfer of IKN (Institute of National Education) is happening in a destructive era or a time when there is a massive change in communication technology," said Nia."

Selain itu, sambungnya, dalam beberapa waktu ke depan akan ada gelombang pendatang ke Sepaku yang berasal dari berbagai latar belakang, baik budaya, lokal hingga internasional. Oleh karena itu, ia menilai, apabila masyarakat di Sepaku tidak diberikan pemahaman dan bekal berpikir kritis, maka dikhawatirkan dapat menjadi pengaruh terhadap kemajuan masyarakat Sepaku sendiri. "Bakal diperlukan kemampuan SDM yang berpikir kritis, karena akan ada berbagai budaya nanti kesini, itu sangat potensial terjadi. Sehingga ada perubahan kemajuan masyarakat dengan perubahan teknologi," jelasnya.
