Dream - Ons Jabeur, a tennis player from Tunisia who recently won the WTA Finals competition in Cancun, has made a surprising decision. Half of the prize she received will be donated to help the Palestinian people. Jabeur expressed her decision after defeating Markéta Vondroušová with a 6-4, 6-3 victory. This title is Jabeur's first. Holding back tears, Jabeur spoke to the audience about her feelings regarding the Israeli military invasion. She feels unhappy about what is happening in Gaza, Palestine.
"Although happy with her victory, the world situation does not make her happy. 'The situation in the world does not make me happy,' said Jabeur during an interview, as quoted from The New Arab, Friday, November 3, 2023."
Jabeur, who initially tried to stay strong, finally couldn't hold back the tears that fell from his eyes. He repeatedly tried to calm himself down when talking about the Israel-Gaza war. "It's very difficult to see children, babies dying every day," he expressed. "It's heartbreaking, so I decided to donate a portion of my money gift to help the Palestinian people," he said.
He also apologized with his emotional condition that should have talked about tennis. "I can't be happy just with this victory, with what happened. Forgive me, this should be about tennis, but it's really frustrating to watch videos every day," he expressed.

The translation of the text while preserving the HTML tags is as follows: "Israel's attack on Gaza so far has killed more than 9,000 Palestinian citizens, including 3,760 children and 2,326 women. Then, in a press conference after the match, this 29-year-old tennis player said that it was a challenge to focus on tennis."
"I try not to use social media as much as possible, but it's very difficult," said Jabeur. "You see videos, photos, it's horrifying, horrifying photos every day. It doesn't help me sleep or recover well, and the worst part is I feel desperate," he recounted.
According to him, donating a sum of money will slightly help with what the Palestinian people have experienced. "But I know that money doesn't mean anything to them right now. So I hope for freedom for everyone and peace for everyone," he expressed.
