Dream - The government has determined the goods that can be imported by e-commerce through Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) Number 31 of 2023 concerning business licensing, advertising, development, and supervision of business actors in electronic trading systems.

Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) said that the regulation was agreed upon in the Limited Coordination Meeting (Rakortas) which discussed Tightening the Flow of Imported Goods and the Discussion on Import Trade on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. This agreement also follows the directive from President Joko Widodo regarding the positive list regulation.

The meeting held at Ali Wardhana Building, Central Jakarta, was also attended by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, the Director General of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Trade Budi Santoso, and the Director General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order at the Ministry of Trade Moga Simatupang.

This revision is motivated by the fact that the circulation of goods on the PMSE platform still does not meet the standards, both the Indonesian National Standards (SNI) and other standards.

Besides that, there are indications of unhealthy trade practices carried out by foreign businesses. Those businesses are suspected of selling goods at very cheap prices to dominate the market in Indonesia.
