Silmy explains the reasons why the Indonesian government changed the design and color of the Indonesian Passport. Silmy explains that passport security must be strengthened every three years, in accordance with international regulations.

"One aspect of changing security is color, where there needs to be a checking process within it. For example, it could be exposed to UV light or have an additional hologram. The photo might be printed in a certain way, then there will be details," expressed Silmy.

It is known that there are currently three types of Indonesian passports, including the standard passport with a greenish-blue cover, the official government employee passport with a blue cover, and the diplomatic passport with a black cover. The standard passport is divided into two types, namely the regular passport and the e-passport. This type of passport is most commonly owned by Indonesian people and is commonly used for visiting other countries. The validity period of this passport type is 10 years and can be extended.

In addition, there is a passport with a blue cover that is used by special employees who are on duty abroad. The owner of this passport is given privileges that are not obtained in a standard passport.

"Before applying for an official passport, there are many things that need to be prepared. This includes a letter of proof of scholarship graduation, a letter of permission from the supervisor, a letter of guarantee, and so on. Thirdly, there is a black-covered passport given to diplomats. This type of passport is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for someone who is undertaking diplomatic travel. This passport is different from a service travel passport that is not specific to duties related to the state."
