No Decision Has Been Made Regarding Corporations, BSI: Our Management is Still Assessing Plans Regarding UUS BTN

Gunawan A.Hartoyo, as Corporate Secretary of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI), finally speaks out about the corporation's actions with Unit Usaha Syariah (UUS) BTN. He revealed that the company is still assessing and has not made any decisions regarding the corporation. 

"Regarding the media coverage about the corporation's actions involving UUS BTN which involves BSI, we would like to inform that until now we have not made any decisions regarding this matter," said Gunawan.

BSI will be Involved as a Shareholder

As previously reported, one of the Himbara banks intends to acquire a bank where BSI will be involved as a shareholder in that bank. This is to follow up on the plan to spin off the Sharia Business Unit by the bank.

As a public company, BSI always complies with the Capital Market regulations, where new material information will be published if there is certainty, in order to support the principle of information openness for shareholders.

BSI Focuses on Strengthening Business Organically

According to Gunawan, BSI is currently focused on strengthening the business organically to support the vision of making BSI one of the top ten global Islamic banks. As known, in the first quarter of 2023, BSI recorded a net profit growth of 47.6% (YoY) to Rp1.46 trillion. 

It is also known that the net profit achievement comes from trading income of Rp2.98 trillion, profit-sharing income of Rp1.39 trillion, net income from leasing of Rp56.18 billion, and other main business income of Rp964.73 billion.
