Dream - The painting by the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), was sold for IDR 510 million. SBY's artwork was sold in an auction held during the 'Weaving Unity' event at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, on Thursday, August 24, 2023.
SBY, together with Jogja Disability Arts, opened the auction of the painting titled 'Morning Mist in the Silent Hamlet' with a price of IDR 100 million.
The painting on a canvas measuring 90 cm x 60 cm was created by SBY overnight and finished at 07:37 AM. "I started yesterday and finished this morning," said SBY, quoted from Merdeka.com.

The Chairman of the Democratic High Council said that the painting depicts a foggy rural atmosphere, but still beautiful. It depicts the abundant natural beauty in Indonesia.
"This is one of God's creations, there are so many of them in our country. If humans, society, love peace, beauty, and harmony, it is good.
"So, through paintings, we can contribute to creating a good society in this beloved country," explained SBY.
SBY's auctioned artwork was contested by members of the Democratic High Council and Vice Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly, Syariefuddin Hasan, Democratic legislative candidate Rinto Subekti, and a participant named Miftah Sobri.
The auction became intense when it reached IDR 400 million. Rinto made a bid of IDR 450 million, which was then countered by Miftah at IDR 475 million, and it continued at IDR 500 million.
Finally, Syarief Hasan proposed IDR 510, and no one offered a higher price.
On another occasion, the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, said that the proceeds from today's auction are expected to be beneficial for Jogja Disability Arts.
"Hopefully, the painters can continue to create and fill the aesthetic space in Indonesia," said AHY.
