Avanza and Veloz Still the Most Popular, Toyota Rangga Flooded with Enthusiasts But...

Dream - The latest generation of Avanza and Veloz became the best-selling Toyota cars at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023, during the event from August 10-20, 2023.

Based on their internal data, they recorded a total of 5,796 SPK (Vehicle Booking Letters), with Avanza-Veloz ranking first with 1,213 units (20.9%). In second place is the All New Kijang Innova Zenix with 823 units (14.2%), with the Hybrid variant composition reaching over 80%, followed by the low-cost green car model Calya with 816 units (14.1%) and the All New Agya with 648 units (11.2%). The newest product, All New Alphard, recorded 382 units (6.6%).

"Toyota's enthusiasm in presenting various carbon neutral mobility solutions by bringing a complete formation of Electrified Vehicles (xEV) at GIIAS 2023, apparently exceeded expectations and contributed greatly to sales. This is evidence that these vehicles are increasingly known and in demand," said Vice President of PT.Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), Henry Tanoto in a written statement on Tuesday, August 21, 2023.

Toyota introduced various electrification technologies to the Indonesian people, ranging from Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV), to Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV).

Accompanied by promotional programs that suit customer needs, xEV variants dominate the sales composition of models that have options with electrification technology.

For example, the All New Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid recorded 658 SPK units with an 80% composition compared to the total sales of this model, the All New Alphard Hybrid with 305 units and an 80% composition, and the All New Yaris Cross Hybrid with 222 units and an 80% composition.

Then, there were 5 units of Toyota BZ4X and 3 units of RAV4 PHEV GR Sport, with a total of 1,255 xEV Toyota SPK units or 22% of all Toyota sales during the GIIAS 2023 exhibition. This figure increased significantly more than 10 times compared to last year's GIIAS with 114 units. 

At the GIIAS 2023 event, the Rangga Concept became the favorite of visitors due to its flexibility to be converted according to the needs of business actors. This Commercial Concept Car, which carries the DNA of the Toyota Kijang Pick Up, is ready to support various business activities ranging from MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), corporate, to public services, using the tested ladder frame IMV base found in various models such as Hilux & Fortuner.

Although there is no mass production version yet, no less than 200 customers from various business sectors have expressed interest in becoming the first buyers of the Rangga Concept, and many more are interested in this latest commercial model.
