Dream - Eid al-Adha is a festive day that brings blessings to all Muslims, especially sacrificial animal traders. How not, millions of Muslims in Indonesia flock to buy livestock to be sacrificed on Eid al-Adha.

Sacrificial worship is a highly recommended sunnah practice for Muslims who have the ability to sacrifice.

Not only farmers, the blessings of Eid al-Adha are also felt by people who suddenly become seasonal sacrificial animal traders. They also experience profits that can reach hundreds of millions even though the capital invested is relatively small.

Like Aulia, a seasonal sacrificial animal trader who regularly becomes a distributor and seller of sacrificial animals every year. This year, Aulia has 25 goats and 300 cows.

Previously in 2022, Aulia was able to sell 200 cows and 30 goats.

For this year's sacrificial animal sales, Aulia estimates an increase of about 30 percent. If calculated, until D-1 of Eid al-Adha, he has sold 25 goats and 280 cows.

"Alhamdulillah, we don't have many goats in stock, only 25, and they're all sold out. As for cows, we have 300 in stock, and there are 20 left on D-1," said Aulia, as quoted from Merdeka.com, Wednesday, June 28, 2023.

From each sacrificial animal, Aulia can earn profits ranging from Rp800 thousand to Rp1 million. While last year, the profit obtained was around Rp500,000 to Rp800,000 per animal.

Aulia's current estimated profit ranges from Rp244 million to Rp305 million. However, the capital invested in this seasonal business is only around Rp80 million.

"Alhamdulillah, the capital has been recovered now," Aulia said.

Availability of Sacrificial Animals 2023

Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo ensures that the stock of sacrificial animals is safe and even surplus, in healthy condition or free from diseases, based on data and monitoring of sacrificial animals in the field.

"Alhamdulillah, we have always been able to meet the demand dynamically, but the availability has always been sufficient and safe," said the Minister in his statement.

He added that the national availability of sacrificial animals in 2023 is 3.2 million. The demand for sacrificial animals this year for each commodity is 650,282 cows, 16,327 buffaloes, 743,672 goats, and 332,770 sheep.

"Throughout Indonesia, we are preparing 3.2 million sacrificial animals, and based on the detections and reports available, everything is on track, and the availability is being monitored," SYL confirmed.

Furthermore, he said that the Ministry of Agriculture, through the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health (PKH), ensures that the implementation of the sacrificial ritual complies with the established standard operating procedures (SOP). In fact, the Ministry has formed a task force to oversee the availability of sacrificial animals.

"The Director General of Livestock has formed a task force to monitor the availability and health of sacrificial animals, from the central level to the provincial and district levels," said the Minister.
