So, is it true that Indonesian hajj pilgrims are not allowed to bring Zamzam water because it is considered radical?

Edayanti, the Head of Arrival and Departure Services Section at the Airport Working Area, explained that the prohibition for hajj pilgrims to bring Zamzam water is due to flight safety concerns.

"This is based on safety regulations from the airline. According to GACA regulations, hajj pilgrims are not allowed to bring Zamzam water in checked baggage. They will be tightly packed together and there is a high possibility of breakage and leakage, which can interfere with the cables underneath the aircraft," said Eda, as quoted from the Ministry of Religious Affairs website.

Eda emphasized that the prohibition of bringing Zamzam water in checked baggage is not the desire of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the government.

However, she also does not blame hajj pilgrims who want to bring Zamzam water as it is considered the highest gift to bring back to the homeland.

"Our flights are quite long, it takes about 9 hours to Jakarta, around 10 hours to Solo, and up to 12 hours to Makassar. So there is a potential for breakage and leakage that can endanger the flight. We still adhere to flight safety and security regulations," she said.

She also explained that 5 liters of Zamzam water have been prepared for Indonesian hajj pilgrims and are already in the hajj dormitory.

"Pilgrims no longer need to bother bringing Zamzam water. This is different from other countries that do not facilitate the delivery of their Zamzam water," Eda stated.
