Ferdy Sambo's Subordinates, Chuck Putranto, Released from Prison, Immediately Goes on Vacation and Remains a Member of the Police

Previously, Chuck Putranto received a termination sanction for being involved in the case that implicated his former superior, Ferdy Sambo.

Head of Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, stated that Commissioner Chuck Putranto still has the status of a Police member based on the decision of the Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) appellate court.

"Yes, with the appellate court's decision, the person in question remains a member of the Police," said Ramadhan, as quoted from liputan6.com, on Friday, June 30, 2023.

Chuck Putranto is known to have appealed the KKEP trial verdict on Thursday, September 1, 2022.

At that time, the KKEP Trial Commission imposed an administrative sanction of dishonorable dismissal (PTDH).

However, the decision has not taken effect because Commissioner Chuck filed an appeal as regulated in Article 69 of Regulation Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Code of Professional Ethics and the Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP).

"The person in question's appeal was not dismissed," said Ramadhan.

Chuck's KKEP appellate trial took place after the KKEP Appellate Secretariat received the appeal memorandum at the end of September last year.

Commissioner Chuck Putranto's appeal was accepted by the KKEP Appellate Commission and resulted in a demotion sanction for 1 year.

Released from Prison

The news of Commissioner Chuk Putranto's release from custody was first known from his wife's post, Baby Utami, on Instagram social media @babyutami on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.

In her post, Baby Utami wrote, "Alhamdulillah, ... finally released, received a COVID-19 assimilation reduction, the appeal was accepted, 1-year demotion.... Thank you very much for your prayers and support #Allahuakbar."

Chuck Putranto is one of the seven defendants obstructing the investigation of the planned murder case against Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J.

The other six defendants are Ferdy Sambo, Commissioner Baiquni Wibowo, Police Commissioner Agus Nur Patria, Police Commissioner Irfan Widyanto, Police Commissioner Arif Rahman, and Police Brigadier General Hendra Kurniawan.

Chuck Putranto was sentenced to 1 year in prison by the panel of judges of the South Jakarta District Court, on Friday, February 24, 2023.

The judge declared Chuck Putranto guilty of committing the primary first charge, namely violating Article 49 in conjunction with Article 33 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) point 1 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP).
