Dream - Al Zaytun Islamic boarding school in Indramayu, West Java, held the Idul Adha prayer on Thursday morning, June 29, 2023. The congregational prayer was broadcast live on the Al Zaytun Official YouTube account.

In the implementation of the Idul Adha prayer, there is a difference or anomaly, namely the female rows are seen mixed with the male rows. There is no partition or barrier between the male and female rows.

In addition, the congregation's prayer position is spaced out or distanced, not close together. The sermon and imam were led by the Head of Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School, Panji Gumilang.

The issue of distanced prayer and the mixing of female rows is still controversial after the viral Idul Fitri prayer some time ago.

Nevertheless, Sheikh Panji Gumilang chose to firmly hold his opinion. One of the justifications is the ongoing pandemic that may not have truly ended.

Therefore, the Idul Adha prayer at Al Zaytun Islamic boarding school was carried out in accordance with WHO protocols for prevention and safe religious practices.

Al Zaytun Teaching Embraces Radicalism, BNPT: Panji Gumilang Pretends to Love NKRI

Dream - Brigadier General Pol. R. Achmad Nurwakhid, the Director of Deradicalization at the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), stated that the teachings found in Ma'had Al Zaytun can be categorized as radicalism. However, it cannot be prosecuted under the Terrorism Act.

"The teachings of Al-Zaytun have not yet fallen into the category of terrorism, so they cannot be processed under the Terrorism Act," said Achmad as quoted from merdeka.com, Monday, June 26, 2023.

Therefore, the case at Al Zaytun can be handled by the general police by applying laws other than the terrorism law, such as Law No. 16 of 2017 concerning Social Organizations and Law No. 1 of 1946 concerning Criminal Law in creating disturbances.

"This case is not within the jurisdiction of Densus 88 and BNPT, but that does not mean we are washing our hands of it," he said.

Nevertheless, he mentioned that BNPT will still assist in monitoring and consulting with stakeholders including the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).

According to him, the teachings found in Al Zaytun are similar to the teachings of Al Qiyadah Al Islamiyah or the Fajar Nusantara Movement (Gafatar) led by Ahmad Mushaddeq, which was popular in 2016.

However, Panji Gumilang (Leader of Ma'had Al Zaytun) did not claim to be a prophet.

"Panji is more cunning, pretending to love NKRI," he said.

He mentioned that cases of radicalism involving Ma'had Al Zaytun will be resolved through good actions and educational measures such as guidance for the administrators and students.

In addition, the students will be mitigated if there is a process of revoking the educational permit of Ma'had Al Zaytun, in collaboration with various relevant parties.
