Iftar Schedule April 1, 2023 and the Virtue of Sharing in the Month of Ramadan

Dream - In addition to fulfilling the obligation of fasting, Muslims are encouraged to do many good deeds in the month of Ramadan. One of them is by sharing with others.

Quoting NU Online, a tradition mentions the extraordinary virtue of sharing or charity in the month of Ramadan. As conveyed by one of the companions, Anas bin Malik RA, which means:

“From Anas it was said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what charity is the most virtuous?' The Prophet answered, 'Charity in the month of Ramadan,' (HR At-Tirmidhi).

In addition, the companions also witnessed the generosity and kindness of the Prophet in the month of Ramadan compared to other months. As narrated in a hadith which means:

“The Prophet Muhammad SAW is the most generous person among others, and he becomes even more generous during the month of Ramadan,” (HR Bukhari and Muslim).

Therefore, the scholars conclude that Islam motivates its followers to share, especially in the month of Ramadan, especially in the last 10 days. Syekh M Nawawi Banten in Nihayatuz Zain mentioned the meaning:

“A person is encouraged to share more in the month of Ramadan, especially in its last 10 days,” (See Syekh M Nawawi Banten, Nihayatuz Zain, [Bandung, Syirkah Al-Maarif: no year], page 183).

Another virtue when sharing in the month of Ramadan is multiplied rewards, as explained in Al-Baijuri which means:

(Fasting people) are encouraged to immediately increase in charity because the Prophet Muhammad SAW is the most generous person in the month of Ramadan. A person can do good deeds in general because the rewards of any form of good deeds will be multiplied compared to the rewards of good deeds done outside the month of Ramadan,” (See Syekh Ibrahim Al-Baijuri, Hasyiyatul Baijuri, [Beirut, Darul Kutub Al-Ilmiyyah: 1999 M/1420 H], second edition, volume I, page 562).

From the above description, it explains several virtues of sharing and giving charity in the holy month of Ramadan. How beautiful it would be if we could do good and share with others as Prophet Muhammad did in the month of Ramadan.
