Basis of the Obligation of Qadha Fasting in Ramadan

Before knowing the prayer for the intention of fasting to replace Ramadan due to menstruation, you also need to understand the evidence that underlies the obligation to replace Ramadan fasting.

Allah SWT has stated in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 184 which states that qadha fasting of Ramadan is obligatory to be performed for the number of days missed.

Artinya:

“(Yaitu) beberapa hari tertentu.

Intention for Fasting to Replace Ramadan due to Menstruation

Replacing missed Ramadan fasting can be done at any time except on forbidden fasting days. Considering that the month of Sha'ban is almost over, it is advisable to immediately pay off your fasting debts. Here is the prayer for the intention of fasting to replace Ramadan due to menstruation that you need to know:

Does Qadha Fasting of Ramadan Need to be Sequential?

In this discussion, the question arises whether qadha fasting of Ramadan needs to be done sequentially. Here is the complete answer!

In Surah Al-Baqarah verse 184, as mentioned above, Allah SWT emphasizes that qadha fasting of Ramadan is obligatory to be performed for the number of days missed.

This statement of Allah is supported by a hadith narrated by Daruquthni from Ibn Umar as follows: "Qadha (fasting) of Ramadan, if one wishes, can be done separately. And if one wishes, it can be done sequentially."

From the explanation, it is clear that Sahabat Dream can perform qadha fasting of Ramadan sequentially or separately. The essence of replacing missed Ramadan fasting is to complete the missed fasts.

Command to Immediately Pay Off Fasting Debt

A woman who leaves fasting in Ramadan due to menstruation is obliged to replace the fasting on other days. Fasting that is missed during Ramadan is considered a debt that must be paid.

Islam commands to immediately perform qadha fasting of Ramadan and not to delay it. This is as explained in Surah Al-Mu'minun verse 61:

(QS. Al-Mu'minun: 61)

In performing qadha fasting, a person is also obliged to recite the prayer for the intention of fasting to replace Ramadan at night (before Fajr time). This is similar to what Sahabat Dream does during the month of Ramadan. As explained in a hadith narrated by Hafshah Ummul Mukminin RA, the Prophet Muhammad SAW said: "Whoever does not intend at night before dawn, then there is no fasting for him." (HR. Abu Daud, Tirmidhi, An-Nasai, and Ibn Majah)

So it can be concluded that replacing Ramadan fasting should be done immediately and not delayed. Because usually many people replace fasting in the end of the month of Sya'ban, even approaching Ramadan.
