Jokowi Prepares Sanctions for Government Institutions that Buy Imported Products

Dream - Jokowi asks ministries, institutions, and governments that use state and regional budget funds to optimize the purchase of local products. He even prepares sanctions for budget users who still buy imported goods.

The President, whose full name is Joko Widodo, asks state-owned enterprises, regional-owned enterprises, provinces, regencies/cities, ministries, and institutions to no longer experiment with buying imported products using state and regional budget funds, as the sanctions will indeed be implemented.

"Please straighten it out, Mr. Coordinating Minister (Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan)," Jokowi emphasized.

Purchasing Domestic Products Boosts National Economic Growth

This former Governor of Jakarta also wants recognition. Jokowi mentioned that the amount of performance allowance (tukin) for civil servants will be influenced by the purchase of domestic products.

"Earlier, I mentioned that the performance allowance is one of the factors considered based on the purchase of domestic products, from ministries/institutions, provinces, regencies/cities, state-owned enterprises, regional-owned enterprises," he said.

Jokowi's appeal is not without reason, as he believes that the use of domestic products can boost national economic growth. 

Jokowi also received a report that the number of domestic products listed in the e-catalog has reached 3.4 million.

This former Mayor of Solo also requests ministries, institutions, and local governments to buy domestic products listed in the e-catalog.

"From 50,000 (products) to 3.4 million (included in the e-catalog). A very short period of time, just over a year," said Jokowi.

Jokowi reminds that 95 percent of the budget allocation for goods and services must be spent on domestic products.

"If we can do this, our domestic industry, our MSME industry, will all thrive and develop. No need to look for investors from afar, if this can work," said Jokowi.
