Jokowi's Moment of Going Overboard and Being Reprimanded by the Kenyan Army and Turning Back

Dream - Jokowi for the first time made a working visit to a country in Africa. There are four countries visited by President Joko Widodo, namely Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and South Africa.

In the midst of his working visit, there was an interesting moment that caught public attention, namely when Jokowi walked on the red carpet and was greeted by African soldiers.

In a video circulating on social media, initially Jokowi walked in front of the neatly lined up soldiers welcoming him. Then, Jokowi turned and continued walking towards a building.

Not long after turning, a soldier accompanying him suddenly reprimanded Jokowi to remind the president to stop for a moment.

In response, Jokowi immediately turned back and then walked to the designated place.

Jokowi's First Visit to Africa Warmly Welcomed by Indonesian Citizens

Dream - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi made a working visit to four countries in the African region on Sunday, August 20, 2023. Since taking office as president in 2014, this is Jokowi's first visit to the African region.

Upon arrival in Nairobi, Kenya, Jokowi received a warm welcome from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, Alfred Mutua, and the Minister of Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, Salim Mvurya, as the Escort of Honour.

In addition, Jokowi was also welcomed by the Indonesian Ambassador to the Republic of Kenya, Mohamad Hery Saripudin, and his wife, and the Indonesian Defense Attaché in Pretoria, Colonel Mar. Burhanudin, and his wife, as well as other Indonesian citizens living in Kenya.

In Kenya, President Jokowi is scheduled to meet with President of the Republic of Kenya, William Ruto, to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

Furthermore, the President will visit the United Republic of Tanzania to meet with President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, and to hold business meetings with several company leaders in Tanzania.

Then, Jokowi will visit the Republic of Mozambique to hold bilateral meetings with President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi.

The Head of State's visit to the African region will conclude with a visit to South Africa to attend the BRICS 2023 Summit. The President is scheduled to return to Indonesia on August 25, 2023.

“For South Africa, Indonesia is invited to the BRICS Summit, and of course, during the BRICS Summit, various bilateral meetings with other heads of state will be held,” said Jokowi as quoted from Presidential Secretariat.

Not alone, in his first visit to Africa, Jokowi was accompanied by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, the Cabinet Secretary, Pramono Anung, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif.

Furthermore, in the same flight, there were also the Director General of Protocol and Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Head of State Protocol, Andy Rachmianto, the Military Secretary to the President, Rear Admiral TNI Hersan, the Commander of the Presidential Security Force, Major General TNI Rafael Granada Baay, and the Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat, Bey Machmudin.
