Previously, Istiqlal Mosque only served congregants who wanted to worship from 03:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Stepping into the last 10 days of Ramadan 1444 H, Istiqlal Mosque opens the mosque for 24 hours.

400 Congregants Have Registered for Itikaf
According to him, this year there are 400 congregants who have registered as itikaf participants at Istiqlal Mosque. These congregants have gone through a selection process.
"We have selected them considering their physical and spiritual health and those who are ready to stay for ten days," said Ismail.
Ismail said that the congregants who have registered as itikaf participants will be provided with accommodations such as lodging, suhoor and iftar meals, as well as supporting activities for itikaf such as qiyamul-lail.
Exceeding the Planned Quota
He said that previously Istiqlal Mosque prepared a quota of 300 itikaf congregants. However, the number of participants exceeded the quota, so it was increased to 400 congregants.
"For those who have not registered, they are welcome to perform itikaf independently but they must bring their own necessities," he said.
In this year's last ten days of Ramadan, Istiqlal Mosque has the theme 'Istiqlal gives itikaf and qiyamul-lail. Let's revive the night, seek forgiveness, and reach Lailatul Qadar.'
The first qiyamul-lail worship tonight at Istiqlal Mosque will be held from 12:30 AM to 03:00 AM. Qiyamul-lail will be filled with recitation of the Quran, sermons from the Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque, Tasbih Prayer, Tahajjud Prayer, Witr Prayer, and concluded with prayer and self-reflection.
