Officially Operating, LRT Jabodebek Fare Rp5000 Until the End of September

Dream - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Integrated Highway (LRT) Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi (Jabodebek) in the Inauguration held at Cawang Station, East Jakarta, on Monday, August 28, 2023.

"By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim this morning, I officially inaugurate the integrated light rail train in the Jakarta Bogor Depok and Bekasi regions," said Jokowi at Cawang Station, East Jakarta, Monday, August 28, 2023.

According to the President, the development of various modes of transportation, such as LRT, is the Government's effort to reduce congestion and pollution in the capital city.

Until now, the government has always received information regarding the condition of Jakarta, which always ranks among the top 10 cities in the world. This happens because almost 996 thousand vehicles commute to the capital city every day.  

“Therefore, congestion and pollution always exist in Jakarta. Therefore, MRT, LRT, KRL, Transjakarta, BRT, and Airport Train are built so that our people switch from private transportation to mass transportation,” said Jokowi.

Officially operating, the Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) has set a promotional fare for LRT Jabodebek with a discount of 78 percent. It is manifested in a flat fare of Rp 5,000 for all service lines.

This promotional fare for LRT Jabodebek is effective from the inauguration of LRT Jabodebek on Monday, August 28, 2023, until the end of September 2023. This is in commemoration of the Indonesian Independence Day and to attract public interest.

"Through this promotional fare, it is expected to encourage the public to switch to using mass transportation instead of private vehicles," said the Ministry of Transportation Spokesperson Adita Irawati in a written statement quoted from Liputan6.com.

Adita explained that in addition to the flat fare of Rp 5,000, the next scheme prepared is the imposition of a maximum fare of Rp 20,000 for the longest distance and below Rp 20,000 for other distances.

This fare scheme will be implemented from the beginning of October 2023 until the end of February 2024. Newly inaugurated, LRT Jabodebek will serve approximately 18 stations.

These include Dukuh Atas Station, Setiabudi Station, Rasuna Said Station, Kuningan Station, Pancoran Station, Cikoko Station, Ciliwung Station, Cawang Station, TMII Station, Kampung Rambutan Station, Ciracas Station, Harjamukti Station, Halim Station, Jatibening Baru Station, Cikunir I Station, Cikunir II Station, Bekasi Barat Station, and Jati Mulya Station.

Prior to the inauguration, Jokowi tested the LRT Jabodebek transportation mode again with the First Lady Iriana and several ministers.

Among them were Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

Furthermore, Secretary of State Pratikno, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo, and Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono were also seen.
