Schedule of Iftar on Sunday, April 2, 2023 and the Virtue of Tarawih Prayer until the End

Dream - Tarawih prayer is a prayer that is specifically performed only on the nights of Ramadan.

The scholars agree that the ruling of Tarawih prayer is sunnah, as stated by Sheikh Taqiyuddin al-Hishni in Kifayatul Akhyar (89), quoted from NU Online with the following meaning:

"As for Tarawih prayer, there is no doubt about its sunnah status. The consensus of scholars has firmly established its status as sunnah, and this is not the opinion of just one person. Deviating opinions are not considered."

Although it is a sunnah, the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) taught to perform it until the end, as in the following hadith.

The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:

قَالَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَكْتُبُ لَهُ قِيَامَ لَيْلَةٍ تَمْلَأُهَا صَلَاةٌ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ إِلَى أَنْ يُنْصَرَفَ، فَإِنَّهُ يُحْسَبُ لَهُ قِيَامُ لَيْلَةٍ تَمْلَأُهَا صَلَاةٌ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ إِلَى أَنْ يُنْصَرَفَ" (رواه أبو داود)

Meaning, "Verily, a man who performs prayer with the Imam (congregation) until the end, then for him the reward of worshiping for a whole night is recorded." (Narrated by Abu Dawud)

Thus, a person who performs Tarawih prayer until it is completed, along with the Witr prayer in congregation with the Imam, is included in the criteria of the above hadith.

Imam Abu Dawud himself, in his Sunan, grouped the above hadith in the explanation of the virtues of prayer in the month of Ramadan, including performing Tarawih prayer.
