Case 114/PUU-XX/2022 was filed by Demas Brian Wicaksono, Yuwono Pintadi, Fahrurrozi, Ibnu Rachman Jaya, Riyanto, and Nono Marijono. The applicants wanted a closed proportional election system or vote for parties to be implemented in the 2024 Elections.
Previously, eight factions in the Indonesian Parliament rejected the implementation of a closed proportional election system and wanted the open proportional system to continue to be used in the 2024 Elections.
Among those who rejected the closed system were Golkar, Gerindra, PKB, NasDem, Democrat, PKS, PAN, and PPP. Only the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle agreed to the implementation of a closed proportional election system.
