Dream - Every deed performed by humans has its own different rewards. For example, the deeds of prayer and fasting. Where obligatory prayers and fasting have a requirement to be carried out by Muslims who are capable of bringing great rewards and can bring sins if not carried out.

However, it turns out that the deed of Prophet Moses (as) that is loved by Allah SWT is not prayer and fasting, but other deeds. Looking at the story of Prophet Moses (as), one of the privileges of Prophet Moses (as) is being able to speak with Allah SWT. And in that dialogue, he asked Allah SWT about the worship that He likes.

So, what deed does Allah SWT like from Prophet Moses (as)? Let's together observe the dialogue of Prophet Moses (as) with Allah SWT and his story which has extraordinary wisdom as summarized by Dream through various sources.

Dialogue of Prophet Moses about the Deeds that Allah SWT Likes

It is narrated that Prophet Moses (as) had the privilege of being able to speak with Allah SWT. Every time he wanted to pray to Allah SWT, Prophet Moses (as) would go up to Mount Sinai. It was on that mountain that he had a dialogue with Allah SWT. The dialogue of Prophet Moses (as) and Allah SWT is narrated in the book Mukasyafatul Qulub by Imam Al-Ghazali.

"O Allah, I have performed the worship that You commanded, which of my worship do You like, is it my prayer?" asked Prophet Moses (as).

"Your prayer is only for yourself. Because prayer keeps you away from evil and wrongdoing." answered Allah SWT.

"What about my remembrance (dhikr)?" asked Prophet Moses (as) again.

"Your remembrance is for yourself, because remembrance makes your heart calm." answered Allah SWT.

"What about my fasting?" asked Prophet Moses (as) again with curiosity.

"Your fasting is only for yourself, because fasting trains yourself and restrains your desires." answered Allah SWT.

"Then what worship do You like, O Lord?" asked Prophet Moses (as).

"When you bring happiness to someone who is in distress with charity. Surely I am with him." answered Allah SWT.

The Story of a Couple Given Wealth by Allah SWT

It is told that there was a couple whose life was plagued by poverty. In a conversation, the wife asked her husband about Prophet Moses (as) who could speak with Allah SWT.

Her husband confirmed it. Then the wife took the initiative to talk to Prophet Moses (as) so that Prophet Moses (as) could speak to Allah SWT for them to be given wealth. They carried out that idea the next day. And indeed, Prophet Moses (as) prayed to Allah SWT mentioning the wishes of the couple.

Allah SWT said:

"O Moses, tell them, I will give them wealth. But I will only give them wealth for one year. And after one year, I will make them poor again."

What Allah SWT said was conveyed by Prophet Moses (as) to the couple. The couple was very happy and they really became wealthy. But unexpectedly, the wealth they had was not used for extravagance, but to help those in need and build a shelter for travelers.

The couple was consistent in giving charity for one year. And it turned out, their condition did not return to poverty. They remained wealthy. Then Allah SWT said:

"O Moses, I have opened one door of sustenance for them. But they have opened several doors of sustenance for My servants."

O Moses, so I entrust the wealth to them for a longer time."

Through the above story, it shows that sharing sustenance with those in need will not make someone become poor or their wealth run out. Instead, sharing sustenance will add more blessings from Allah SWT. As explained in His words through the verse of Surah Saba, verse 39:

قُلْ اِنَّ رَبِّيْ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهٖ وَيَقْدِرُ لَهٗ ۗوَمَآ اَنْفَقْتُمْ مِّنْ شَيْءٍ فَهُوَ يُخْلِفُهٗ ۚوَهُوَ خَيْرُ الرّٰزِقِيْنَ

Meaning: "Say, 'Indeed, my Lord extends provision for whom He wills of His servants and restricts [it] for him. But whatever thing you spend [in His cause] - He will compensate it; and He is the best of providers.'" (Surah Saba: 39)
