Two Indonesian Cities Included in the List of Smart Cities in the World

Dream - Two Indonesian cities are included in the list of smart cities in the world, based on the Smart City Index (SCI) released by The Smart City Observatory, a part of the IMD World Competitiveness Center (WCC).

The data records 141 cities worldwide that have been studied. Two of them are cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta ranking 102nd and Makassar ranking 114th.

Jakarta is considered eligible for registration due to several research findings regarding medical service facilities, access to quality education, and the creation of new job opportunities.

Meanwhile, Makassar is considered to have new records, including related to information access to regional government decisions, the ability to schedule medical appointments online, and the ease of using public transportation thanks to online ticket sales and scheduling.

However, there are specific notes conveyed by SCI to Jakarta and Makassar regarding priorities that need to be addressed.

Jakarta is considered to need more focus on addressing air pollution, traffic congestion, and corruption. Meanwhile, Makassar should pay more attention to unemployment, traffic congestion, and corruption.

In addition to cities in Indonesia, there are several cities in Asia that are also included in the list. In fact, some cities have been at the top of the list since 2019.

These cities include Singapore, Beijing, Seoul, and Hong Kong, which continue to show positive developments. (x)
